Orthopaedica Belgica 2024: an overview of the most remarkable developments in orthopaedics.<\/p>\n\n
On 25 and 26th of April, Antwerp hosted the Orthopaedica Belgica 2024 conference, a pre-eminent gathering of Belgian experts in orthopaedics. The two-day event provided a platform for sharing cutting-edge research, valuable insights and for attending hands-on courses.<\/p>\n\n<\/figure>\n\n
This year’s central theme focused on the latest trends in personalised orthopaedic care.<\/p>\n\n
The speaker\u2019s list also featured a number of doctors from the Orthoca group including Prof. Olivier Verborgt, Dr. Melanie Vandenberghe, Dr. Wouter Peeters, Dr. Jeroen Verhaegen and Prof. Matthias Vanhees.They also shared their knowledge, know-how and progressive insights regarding personalised orthopaedic care.<\/p>\n\n
3D Technology<\/h4>\n\n
A notable highlight of the congress was the in-depth exploration of 3D technology and its various applications within orthopaedics.<\/p>\n\n
Insights were shared on how 3D technology is used not only for problem analysis, but also for patient-specific instrumentation in arthroplasty. Benefits and pitfalls were carefully highlighted for the 550 participants.<\/p>\n\n<\/figure>\n\n
The athlete\u2019s shoulder revisited<\/h4>\n\n
The case-based discussion on the athlete’s shoulder was an intriguing session attended by numerous participants because of the specificity and complexity of the topics.<\/p>\n\n

The conference also offered insights into advanced technologies for total hip replacement. This involves the use of augmented reality and smart robotics to further develop precision surgery.<\/p>\n\n

The importance of personalised approaches in orthopaedics was highlighted with a session on selecting the right prosthesis based on each patient’s unique characteristics. <\/p>\n\n
